Do you talk about your atheism

I don't see much point in engaging the masses about this. They're going to do as much rationalizing as they need to keep believing. Why waste your breath?

I feel like bringing it up is akin to preaching. I avoid it only because I feel my religious preference is a non-issue, and I instead discuss more important things. Discussions sometimes lead people to figure out that I am in fact an atheist, but by that time it's only a side note.

Intelligent discussion certainly keeps one from straying to extraneous sidebars about grown ups believing in mythology.

Do talk openly about your atheism? I myself kind of take a middle road here. I have made feeling very clear to those that are close to me, but on the whole I try not to bring religion around people and I kind of take a live and let live policy unless somebody either tries to convert me or says says something incredibly stupid about evolution or atheists. On the whole Im not shy about but a lot of people wouldn't think I'm a atheist by meeting me. How arebyou about it?

I love discouraging Mormon missionaries that go door-to-door. Most of the time, as soon as they find out I'm an atheist, they say their goodbyes pretty quickly.

Away from work the subject never or rarely comes up, (unless my fiancee is reading my forum posts and puts her tuppence in) at work however certain service users will start trying to proselytize. Our policy is that there is to be no such discussion on the premises so all I can do is to remind them of the regulations. I would love to rip into them sometimes though, so I have to come to internet forums after work and rip into theist posters instead...

Not really.

It's only one part of me. Most people don't know (which I guess is mostly a product of not talking about it). I think I'd surprise a lot of people if they found out. It's not something I really think about much. Maybe the only way atheism affects my life is that I realize I have a short time on this earth, and I better use it how I want.

I don't, unless someone brings it up first. I'll tell 'em what I really think if they start being offensive.

The Mormons and JWs both avoid my house now, which suits me fine.

I always talk about my anti-religious views. I like to exercise my right to pass on information, critically engage the world and all the quarky ideas within it. I hope in doing so I might plant many seeds of doubt in the minds of believers.
