Facebook Atheism
I have several, maybe too many, face book friends who post a different bible verse every day (or maybe even a few a day). Of course it's always inspiring, moral, "good" bible verses.

I'm thing about doing the same thing, a sort of "verse-a-day" thing. Each day I post a bible verse, one about slavery, killing children, subjugating women, what have you. (I might even do the Quran, if I ever get around to reading the damn thing lol).

Is this too much of a dick move? Have any of you done something similar, and if so, what were your experiences?

I would start with Matthew 10:34 and see how the crowd reacts

Matthew Wrote:Jesus: Do not think that I came to bring peace on Earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man's enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

I got called an "asshole" for liking atheism themed material. I wasn't even sharing it.

You know what I really love?

I love when people post their little passive aggressive statuses on FB that are obviously geared towards you and your personal beliefs. It shows, to me atleast, that they don't have enough balls to say "hey, I disagree with you" so instead they make little statuses and collect their little internet "likes" and smell their own smug farts.

I straight up say "I'm skeptical of this. When there is more evidence I'll be convinced" ...and people take that as an insult for some reason.

Either they don't know what the definition of skeptical is or they are relying on a fantasy to give them entertainment in real life so they get upset when you knock them down a peg.

That might be a good start. At least the first comment I get won't be

I also love the people who post conspiracy shit from like "truthseekers.org" or "Illuminatiexposed.com"

Shit CRACKS me up... and they get so mad too when you call them out for believing this shit.

I love it.

If you really want to be a dick you can tag all of the friends that share happy bible verses when you share yours so they'll get a notification that you've posted it and they'll more probably actually read it.

People think skeptics are people who just deny things because it doesn't fit their own philosophy, or some other nonsense like that. Even more so if it concerns something that they believe.

I dunno.

I mean people come here for a good old theolgical row and that's well and good. But FB...

It irritates me when people send me religious stuff. It would irritate me much the same if people sent me taking the piss out of religious stuff. Are those christians really exhibiting behavior you want others to observe in you? Plagiarism is a form of flattery you know...

Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken."

"Is the OT a revelation from your god, or is it not?"

(In other words, Christians may not be bound by the covenant of the OT - but the OT does expose their god as a complete dick. Maybe that's why some can't distance themselves from it fast enough.)

I have a few friends that post stuff (mostly workmates) so I just match them post for post with memes off here normally.
