Atheism destroyed with a question

Whoo, look at that dodge!

Quote:I don't understand your last post, please explain.

"Were you there?" is literally the most intellectually bankrupt thing it's possible to ask in this case, because you only want to apply it to us: since we weren't there we can't say anything about the past, but neither were you, and your relying on your faith to circumvent, through fiat assertion, the contention you have with our position, is merely special pleading. To be clear, we both have information leading us to our conclusions about the past- ours is exhaustively studied evidence, and yours is an old book written by anonymous authors- but you're wanting to dismiss ours out of hand because we weren't there, and yet keep yours... despite the fact that you weren't there either.

What's the difference between the two? Well, our position is supported by evidence, and you just want to believe yours more, despite having no evidence at all. It's profoundly dishonest.

Oh, and you're still a monkey, biologically speaking. That's just... scientific consensus.

Oh, not to mention their existence on other planets, where there is no life. You're simply wrong here, Mr Magical Thinking.

Perhaps God allowed changes in His entire creation when sin was introduced. Evolving from monkeys sounds more like magical thinking.

There's a geological record of them occurring.

And no record of a "great flood" having occurred.

Perhaps monkeys might fly out of my butt as well.

Speculate all you like. We care about what you can demonstrate, which so far has been fuck-all.

I once said that to a bible literalist who then asked, "What about seashells on mountain tops?"

When I replied with "Plate tectonics" the next question was "What's that?"

It is quite beautiful from a safe distance, but I doubt you'd find it that beautiful if you were there. Jupiter is a terribly nasty place for primates like us.

It was formed by gravitational attraction, not the whims of Yahweh trying to give you a "gosh, how pretty!" moment.

There are absolutely fascinating things to be learned about the process how gas giants are formed,
how they become stars when they are large enough. How we have discovered thousands
of them orbiting other stars, with probably billions of them in our galaxy alone. You can
make statistics about the formation of solar systems, and learn what are the dynamics from
which they arise. Unfortunately, you have some kind of mental block which will prevent you
from appreciating this.

I have a new question to destroy atheism tho: If atheists came from theists, why are there still theists?

It's the finely tuned laws of physics/gravity that allow stars and planets to form the way they do and remain structurally stable. God creates the physical laws and the universe and life will form according to the overall design.

Leaving aside the bare assertion that is your second sentence, there, the only way you could claim that the laws of physics were finely tuned is if you could demonstrate that the universe as it is now was the way the universe was meant to be, and not just the way it shook out to be due to factors in its formation.

Can you provide evidence of such intent, or is this another argument from ignorance/incredulity that you're positing?

That's a picture of a hurricane from orbit.
I would definitely qualify that as beautiful.... from that distance. Being right in that, beautiful would be the last word I'd think of.

We can leave science to demonstrate the complexity and sheer perfect order and magnificence of a purposefully created universe. More than enough of a demonstration for anyone even former atheists.

Yes but you would reject it as evidence and put it down to coincidence or "just the way the universe happened to be" by chance.
