It means we can't cut him any slack for things we disagree with in the bible. No, it means that we can't cut ourselves any slack for things we disagree with.
I never claimed to be perfect, so I deserve some slack for mistakes.

I agree with this but with the caveat that it still divided people. Well, you are a homosexual, so YOU won't go to heaven. You're in sin. (example) But, God is merciful so he will forgive. Forgive what? Someone who is in love with someone of the same sex needs to be forgiven for THAT? On and on it goes. Christians feeling unnecessary shame because they believe a bunch of supposed ancient texts not backed by any real evidence. If a god exists, why must I feel unworthy in his "presence?"
Christianity breeds division because the Bible teaches that if one is in sin, he/she will not be held in high regard by God. And while trying to strive to live better lives is a positive thing, it causes people to judge others based on how they judge someone ełse's "sin."
All religion actually breeds division whether intentional or not. There's no denying that religious people feel they are superior to those who don't believe, because the Bible even tells them "you are chosen by God."
It just doesn't fit with how I view humanity.
If a god exists, I just don't think he is remotely the character illustrated through the Abrahamic faiths. I imagine a god to be far better than the ogre the Bible makes him out to be. And should Jesus have existed, I believe he died fighting AGAINST religion, why would he want a shrine made for him, people idolizing him? Sounds like the whole "divine Jesus" story was totally fabricated, but a powerful religion wouldn't have taken shape with my "version."

How do you see that one who is in sin is not held in high regard by God, He gave His Son for that person, the way I see it God holds sinners in very high regard because of His great love for us.
Christians including myself need to remember the speck in another's eye and the log in ours.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

2. I don't know that you "deserve some slack for mistakes," but God will freely forgive your sins.
@Deidre:
You're preaching to the choir:
Luke 12
51 Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. 52 For from now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.

God is far from perfect by my standards of perfect
Dont know what his idea of perfection is. By those standards he might b perfect
I personally feel that god is a jerk ; is apathetic; or his hands are tied
There is Allegedly a battle between good and evil as well
Bad guys win a lot of battles
