Should there or should there not be a national registry? I'm thinking yes; we have to register our vehicles, which are all kinds of dangerous and costly, so why be against this same practice for another dangerous and costly object?

There is no national registry for vehicles.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

But that's not a reason to not have a registry at all, at any level. So why or why not? (March 21, 2014 at 9:15 pm)KUSA Wrote: Paranoid much? No straw man here.

Asserting there's no straw man doesn't mean you didn't use one. But since you brought it up, how does one register a right? Now, while you mull over that conundrum, please explain why registration is detrimental. Should we stop registering cars? Pets? Should it be mandatory, a choice, nothing? What and why?
And, KUSA, a bit of extra info pertaining to your straw man; why are you worried about someone confiscating your weapon? Is there something you aren't telling us? Your assertion that registration leads to confiscation begs the question of "Why would you lose your guns?" Had you left out the word 'national' it would be a valid comparison. Here in Massachusetts, firearms transactions are recorded by the state.

I suppose I should follow up and ask why it's necessary there? Perhaps you can explain why you want gun registration and what the benefits would be in doing it. RE: All Hail the Second Amendment

Should it be mandatory, a choice, nothing? What and why? That wasn't my question. All I said was that it seems to be a hot-button issue, and I'm trying to find out why. Aside from the typical "It's unnecessary cause 'Murica'" response that seem to be your only ammo, I want to know why it's such a horrible thing. Shifting the question on to me won't get this discussion any further, as I've already admitted not to even have further information. Or...I'm just asking the wrong individuals. If you couldn't tell, I'm also trying to find out more about why its a good thing. Just saying that it isn't and slapping me with a strawman meme isn't getting you anywhere with me. |
