Evolution is a theory and because of this it is substantiated by fact and is the only factual conclusion made from current evidence regarding human descent. Genetics provide evidence for this due to the commonality and the "cousin" like DNA of modern apes and man. Mankind though of course is not a monkey as that is a further split along the evolutionary trail but we are without a doubt a species that falls under the primate order.
