Why It Is Not Too Late To Repent And Turn To Christ
RE: Why It Is Not Too Late To Repent And Turn To Christ
Rev777...

I appreciate your sincerity. Are you able to model this love of your God in a way that does not condemn others? Sure, I know that Christians believe that theirs is the one true God and that the bible is the truth manual for life, but as you tell others your version of the 'truth' have you once ever considered listening to what someone else says is 'true' to them? Perhaps listening is a better way to model this love you speak of.

Example: I say that my 'path' is the best way (or the only way) and that I want the best for you too. I tell you that if you do not follow me on my path that certain destruction awaits you at the end of your path. Now, I have not cared to bother with trying to understand your path, nor have I cared to know what your path looks like, because the instruction manual for my path says that all other paths lead to eternal punishment - so why bother with understanding and compassion? I don't want to hear how sincerely you are walking on your own path, or how much life and fulfillment you find on your path. I only want to label your path as evil, and condemn you and all others who fail to follow my own chosen path.

Sounds kinda dick-ish doesn't it? You get the point. The people here (including myself) have no need to be reconciled to your version of God for any perceived or inflicted sin nature. Your tradition has mistaken the teachings of truth found within its own holy book, and has wrongly applied wrath where compassion is dictated.

Actually that's exactly what the book says.

The bible, when read properly, contains much beauty and wisdom. The bible, when read improperly, contains much horror and invites war. Sadly, most theists read their holy books with their egos rather than their being.

By reading properly you mean reading only the nice parts?

I mean to read it with spiritual eyes. Most Christians are blind in this way.

Spiritual eyes see only nice bible parts and ignore the bad ones?

No, spiritual eyes apply understanding to the vile parts - they do not excuse them away. I will not defend the genocidal impulses of some of the people who wrote the bible, nor will I attempt to whitewash the filth so obviously composed by mankind in the name of their [God]. Through spiritual eyes, one sees what is God and what is man. When seeing clearly, the obvious crap is transformed into a discernment tool for the wise to apply in their own walk. The bible is a self-evident forgery, but is does offer wisdom to those who can see it.

You'd have to ask someone who believes that God created cancer. I don't think in such ways.

What happens when you just read it with your eyes, looking at the words on the page?
