I am so adamant that I don't even give to any charities if I find out that they have religious affiliations of any kind. I have always felt that I wanted to give to St. Judes Hospital for children with cancer. But my hatred for religion does not allow me to do so.

I can relate! One of the neighbor's kids knocked on my door one day looking for people to sponsor him on a charity walk. I signed up and pledged five bucks. A couple of weeks later I received a notification in the mail telling me where to send my pledge. It was for a CATHOLIC SCHOOL! Now, if I had known from the get-go that the money was going to a Catholic School I would have said no. I just ripped up the thing and threw it away. Another couple of weeks went by and I received another notice from the school. This time the form had SECOND NOTICE stamped across the top in red! Like this is some type of bill I had better pay! Can you believe the gall? I ripped that up as well and never sent any money. It was also the last time I heard from them.

I never donate to christian aid.

I'm confused, what was the charity walk for exactly? You wrote "for a catholic school" but was it to fund the school or only organised by the school for a charity?

Yeah, I was confused as well. When the kid presented the signup sheet he just said it was for a charity walk. When I got the notice in the mail it said to make checks payable to "Holy Trinity School". It didn't say specifically what the money was to be used for, but I could only assume it was going to the school itself. And I'll be damned if I'm giving money to a parochial school. If they want money, they can raise the tuition.

The only thing I sent to several religious organizations anonymously of course after I decided to be a full fledged atheist was a vulgar drawing of Satan screwing Christ up the ass. And I put a caption above the pic stating "This is what you are doing to your Christ." I sent about 7 of them out to top televangelist I literally sat through their broadcast waiting for them to display their addresses for donations. This was when not everyone had internet service or a computer.

That's almost sad. Almost. I mean if you want to help, help, if not not... I just feel bad thinking about how you always have to look over your shoulder to make sure there aren't believers hiding behind anything you want to get involved in.

Certainly whatever crimes the churches committed over the generations don't call for the refusal to help anyone associated in any way with religion. Granted you should of course do what you want, and give and share and help as much and as specifically as you want. It just seems a little over the top. This coming from the guy who will never go in a Walmart, McDonalds or to the Rippers.

Shrug. Just saying...

For some reason, I keep getting crap from some church in the Midwest. Some place called "St. Matthew's Church" in Tulsa. They send this ridiculous "prayer rug" (it's actually a large piece of paper) that has "Jesus" pictured on it. They encourage you to use it to pray for whatever you want and then they want you to send it back to them so they can send it to someone else. (They even provide a postage paid envelope!) Of course, they have "testimonials" in the bullshit they include with the "rug" claiming that all these wonderful things happened after people used the "rug". When I get this crap I cut out pictures of dicks from porn magazines and paste them all over the thing. It's fun to paste these things onto the "rug" and make it look like "Jesus" is giving someone a blow job! My only regret is that I can't be there to see the expression of whoever opens the envelope!

Glad you got a laugh! I picture some 76 year old lady opening the envelope, seeing what I've sent back, and fainting! I also wonder what they do with the "rug". Obviously, they can't send it on to anyone else. But it seems "disrespectful" (from their perspective) to throw the thing in the trash.

Oh oh oh I Know!

Send it back with a happy letter claiming it really worked! You used it to pray you would get laid that night and 'lo and behold, you got laid!

Then say you've provided proof. The proof is in the stains on the cloth!

Then imagine the old lady opening it and starting to read your emo filled letter. She may start "awwww" and weeping at the glorious letter clutching the 'prayer rag' holding it against her cheek.

Until she gets to "that part", screams and flings the rag across the room.

That would be classic.

IMO.
