Cold War satellites find archaeological motherlode

I always saw it as a Cyberman:
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I think it's not the town or the mount in the middle that is the archeology remains here, You probably won't need any satellite to see those.
The archeology site in the photos that was found by the satellite is probably circular discoloration that goes around the town, and the linear feature off to the bottom left. These are probably discoloration in the foliage of local crops and weeds caused by soil drainage differences that occurs as result of buried walls, foundations, and pavements. They would be damned tough to see from ground level. Yep - which would seem to indicate that taking a peek *under* the newer buildings might bear fruit. The way things are going now the antiquities thieves will be the only ones to profit. I agree, but keep in mind the pilfering might have happened 2000 years ago. True, but let's not encourage modern pilfering. (April 28, 2014 at 9:44 pm)Cato Wrote:(April 28, 2014 at 8:03 pm)Cthulhu Dreaming Wrote: This. You're right, the shadows clearly show its a hill, my bad. "I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment) |
