So you admit that it has been done for religious reasons - this is as well true for all other points. Enough for me to consider religion something bad.

Quote:The Gospels are the only proof we have of the existence of those miracles. I do not believe in the crossing of the Red Sea because there is no evidence to show it happened, while the Gospels all write about the same miracles.

This is obviously some strange usage of the word 'proof' that I've previously been unaware of :S

Do i have to reiterate myself...again ?

In my FIRST POST i acknowledged religion did some bad things, but it has done more things than bad. Education, charity, medecine, shelter, unity.

It is not a generalization it is logic. I never said all christians are giving and all atheists are not, i just said that religious people are more enclined to engage in charity because of their beliefs. Dont trying to box me into a little overgeneralizing jackass, and actually think about what i am saying.

Following your logic, you contend that the countries with the least religious people are the least likely to donate to charities:

Let's take, for example Norway and Sweden,

Sweden - reported to have between 46 and 92 percent rate of atheists and non-believers.

http://books.google.com/books?id=tAeFipO...&q&f=false

Norway - the country with the largest percentage of non-believers and atheists in Western Europe.

http://ec.europa.eu/public_opinion/archi...ort_en.pdf

Let's see what their rates of charitable donations (Official Development Assistance) are when compared to their GNI (Gross National Income):

The gospels are no more "proof" of miracles than the OT is "proof" of any OT miracles.

The gospels are propaganda, written well after the fact and deliberately edited down through the centuries to make them conform to church "doctrine." (Read Bart Ehrman, Misquoting Jesus and Jesus Interrupted)

Many scholars traditionally date "Mark" to 70 AD because of the attack on Jerusalem. However, "Mark" makes jesus say that not one stone shall remain standing and this is certainly not the case in 70. Josephus recounts that the Romans left a number of towers standing and garrisoned the Tenth Legion on the site. It was not until the aftermath of the bar Kochka revolt in 135 that the site was leveled and the new Roman city of Aelia Capitolina built on the ruins. Thus, "Mark" is really describing the situation in 135 not 70 as Hadrian did level the city and build a new one on top of it. He seems to have incorporated Herod's platform into the plan and built a magnificent temple to Jupiter on top. That temple would have been there when the Arabs arrived.

Actually, there is no proof there of correlation between the fact that the are atheists and that they give more to charity. There are thousands of reasons that could explain that, for example their culture as a country.

Lets look at your reasoning :

-Sweden has a lot of atheists
-Sweden gives a lot to charity
-Atheists give a lot to charity

That's just illogical.

OK, I admit that "disprove" is a bit overstated. But I'll say it renders your idea highly unlikely.
And it's definitely proofing more than any gospel.
