You see it in chimps, bonobos, orangutans, gorillas, all of them.

A real job is just something people do to help provide. You may not agree with it, but it's a profession.

I'm going to side with those that think there is a continuum.

There might be the occasional personality type that enjoys the work, but just does it for a lark a few times. Either having a trust fund or a 'regular' job to live on.

There would be others that view adult acting as a profession and achieve varying degrees of success. For some, that would be living as a homeless person and the filming gigs providing the infrequent jolt of money to some that can afford a modest apartment existence on their earnings and then there would be the upper echelon, great looks/skill combined with some business acumen and they start a filming and/or distribution business of their own.

I've noticed a few gay adult movie performers advertising as themselves as escorts, even years after their filming careers have dissipated. There have been a few adult actors to pen books about their careers, some accurate, some wildly improbable.

Extremely infrequently, a Stallone comes along, and makes it into the mainstream acting/producing business, but that would be very rare.

As far as chimps go, the bug-picking is a behavior that's constantly going on. The females have many males competing for them, so bug-picking helps males with their standing. There are other ways that they compete, too, like fighting each other and protecting the women and their young.

Because if it would be a form of prostitution shouldn't mean that if the female lets herself bug-picked by a random male isn't she obligated to have sex with him? And you said it yourself.

The females have many males competing for them, so bug-picking helps males with their standing. There are other ways that they compete.

So if I read correctly even if a male bug-picks a female that won't assure him it would get him laid.

That surely takes the whole concept of profession open up for debate. But….well at leas you could say that you were a porn actor. You aren't anymore but sometime in the past you were one. But that would make one ask: were you a professional or you didn't? Because I could dedicate all my time to one activity but that won't assure me that I would become a professional in that activity. I'm asking from the professional point of view either if I get paid well enough to continue doing it or not that it's another issue.
