I'm just going to say this: if you openly accept as fair and just, to the point of worship, a system that will punish eternally anyone who doesn't believe in it, then you are either being hateful, or you have not fully thought through the consequences of that system.
QFT.
Amazes me when theists refuse to understand that the belief that everyone who does not believe exactly as you do will burn in hell forever is not hateful.
Where the hate stems from, the book they follow or their own personal inclination towards otherism, is up for debate. But the hate, and certainly the fear, is evident for all with eyes to see.

It seems apparent to me that the political left deems everyone who disagrees with them as as hateful or prejudiced. If I think that someone else is going to hell, and I'm trying to keep them from doing that, then that means that I hate that person. Sounds like pretty poor reasoning to me.

Extremists of any flavor can act this way. Has nothing to do with left or right. The problem in this country is that the screaming is dominated by right-wingers.

No, the problem is that your religion has no basis for its ideals except a bronze-age collection of stone-age influenced tales, most of which involve violence and hatred of the acutest kind. You're right - the fact that you wouldn't want a person to go to hell means you care, but the religion you base your evangelizing on DOESN'T.

Hell is as real as the Phantom Zone. Grow up already and leave people alone. In the U.S., the premise that others have not heard the story or are unaware of the threat of hell and the fact that some of you take it seriously is preposterous.
The love the sinner, but hate the sin mantra is a canard. It serves as a get out of jail free card for pushy assholes that won't take no for an answer.

Minor nitpick, but the Christian version of hell we all know and love is an iron age myth. If we were just stuck with the bronze-age version of Judaism, we'd all end up in Sheol regardless of whether we believed or not. Of course, we'd have adherents ordered to murder us on sight, so I guess at least we don't have to deal with that.

Nitpick accepted, although further nitpick being that most of the ideals the fundies espouse come from the Old Testament, not the New.

If only you had evidence that hell existed anywhere but in your own mind. But you don't.
And that, sorry to say, makes you little more than an annoying busybody.

Buddy, you worship a being that you think is going to send us to hell for not believing in him. Evidently, you think that this action is fair and just, as I've seen you argue before that god's actions are always just.
You clearly weren't paying attention when you read my post: if you actually think that it's fair for me to be tortured forever for not believing exactly the same thing that you do, then yes, you are being hateful. That is a hateful position to accept. The fact that you seem to not feel that hate to the point that you're confused as to why we'd think that tells me that you are probably just doing what I expect most other sane christians do too: you aren't thinking through the consequences of the beliefs your religion requires you to accept.
Because if you had, you'd understand why, from the outside, those are hateful beliefs.

When your deity demands persecutions of nonbelievers, and says not persecuting them is worthy of punishment, there isn't much wiggle room.
