If you have the time, and you haven't seen those places yet you won't be sorry.
Damn! How is that Bad dog?
Bad Dog!
I've seen them all, but my sister hasn't. She's kind of in a hurry to get home... but maybe I can talk her into some detours. Thanks, Pappy!

I will, W'ist! Won't be going by there this time, but I always love a trip up your way
And, Min, screw that kind of heat! I might head to AZ eventually though. You'd better look out...

Hope it's not too muggy wherever you are. It sure as hell is here, off of "The 163".

Dude... anything's better than the 55 degrees, rain, and wind that's been happening here in Upstate NY since I got here. Ugh!

If you want to swing through Denver, let me know. We can get together for beers (or coffee).

My sister and I are driving across the US starting tomorrow. Our first stop for the night is in Toledo (Holland) Ohio because it's a good day's drive from our starting point in Syracuse, NY. We're playing it by ear for the rest of the trip, but we're taking the 90 to the 80 (can you tell yet that I'm a Californian?) and then we're trying to decide whether to go through Wyoming or Colorado (branch off to the 76 then the 70, or to stay on the 80; I've driven through CO, but never WY. My sister's done neither), to the 15 then back home to San Diego.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any interest in hanging out somewhere along the way! I would love to meet some of you people! We're trying to get home by Wednesday or Thursday, so time is an issue, but, like I said, we're being pretty spontaneous in our sleeping stops.
Let me know on this thread, or by PM if you'd like to get together. It would be so fun to meet up

Tomorrow, we're driving from Toledo to Des Moines. I'm stoked because we're stopping at the Ultraviolet Apocalypse in Munster, Indiana. If anyone is close-by and wants to join, we'll be there around about 1:30 PM.
RoadsidAmerica.com Wrote:Around the corner -- easy to miss in the gloom -- is Memorial Chapel, a black light extravaganza of the archangel Gabriel and Jesus raising the dead. The sun is falling, hands are reaching up out of the ground, and yellow crosses race across the ceiling. It looks like something out of The Wall, or a scene from one of those anti-communist cartoons from the 1950s, with the skies filled with waves of Soviet bombers -- a metaphor that the friars obviously did not intend. The room is so dark that it takes several minutes to get your Apocalypse eyes, but it's worth it. The rocky walls are lined with bronze plaques, paid for by the families of the dead, which the official guide explains are "asking Christ to raise those people one day and to admit them to His company in a happy eternity."
