Should man rule over women for women’s own good?

Dude...that is so irrelevant to my question it's not even funny. I was asking about what passages say "women and men are equal", or at least something of the sort, because there are tons of passages that are horrible to women. Simply saying "everyone can get into heaven" doesn't mean shit, unless you are implying that women need to follow the biblical roles and customs set out in scripture, which is anything but equal.

No, the bible offers women salvation as it does men, it does not say that women are equal.

The bible is clear that men are above women. That does not however, negate a woman's power when she is operating within her respective role. Women are given a specific role which men cannot fulfill and vice-versa. My wife, when in submission to me, is in a very high place of honor, which gives her great influence and authority. Don't ask me how it works - it just does Dunno

All right here is a few. In Genesis it states God created man and women in his own image. Atfer the fall God treated man and woman equally by giving both equal punishments before throwing them out. Women such as Women such as Deborah, Esther, Hannah, Huldah, Jochebed, Miriam, Noadiah, Rachel, Rebekah, Rahab, Ruth and Sarah played important roles like men throughout the Bible. Jesus also treated women with equaliy such as speaking with the samaritian women. It was extremely usual to speak to women let alone a samaritian, Jesus came for all. Also at Jesus' time women were confined to a domestic role but Jesus let them travel with him. Paul also speaks about the churches equality You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. (NIV, Galatians 3:26-29). I hope this satisfies

Lol too bad it's all fantasy and the real reason she's in a place of honor is because she has a husband who loves and respects her. Your lack of desire to dishonor, disrespect, or abuse your wife is because you're a good guy. It's not because god and it's not even because she's submissive to you.

As I've said, I think submission can be beautiful and wonderful, but it's a choice. No matter how great you are to her, it wouldn't be right if she felt like she was obligated by god to submit to you even though she didn't want to. It wouldn't be beautiful and she wouldn't be happy. She can say she does it because of her faith, but whatever her reasoning is she does it because she wants to.
Go ahead tell her to do something that crosses her boundaries (without violating her faith) and see how she reacts.

Your response is utterly inadequate to explain all of the passages that so clearly and explicitly put women in a position beneath that of men. The fact that Jesus was nice to some women or that some women appear in the bible is to be expected, since they make up half of the damn human race, but the laws and roles and customs assigned to them could only be called "equal" by someone who agreed with those laws and roles and customs in the first place, which is absolutely nothing like what we mean when we talk about gender equality today.

Thank you for your kind words. I agree that "god" is not involved. The formula simply works as prescribed. Wink

Yes, I agree. Smile

Sadly, I have done so Undecided. Her reaction is submission. And wouldn't you know it, her submission is all the power she has ever needed to stem the tide of my former unkindness toward her.
