This thing is 129 pages deep. Are there any good points made? I need the abridged version.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay." For context, this is the previous verse: "Hi Jesus" -robvalue (September 17, 2014 at 11:42 am)DramaQueen Wrote: The garden is in an island called Bahrain. Figures of speech are intended to convey meaning. What meaning do cherubim and flaming swords convey? The story context is one of guarded defence of a prohibited area. If not actual cherubim and swords of flame, then what? Related questions: how did you come to determine them as figures of speech? Why? What else must be interpreted figuratively and how and why must we make that distinction between literal and figurative?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
I was just looking at it from the view of Christian apologetics. Guess I succeeded?

They exist only in a book, the codified scriblings of speech, and thusly can -only- be figures of speech. The authors had never seen any cherubim or flaming swords either - so no one's actually talking about literal cherubim or flaming swords - even though some numbskills malfunctioning headgear might point them in this direction. To add, the narrative works without assuming that any part of it is literal -it's peoples beliefs (and obviously not all peoples beliefs) that don't work when that assumption is removed. The story is still fine.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
Yet our resident snowflake is in the process of tracking down the 'actual' garden of edam (sorry - autocorrect). Unless he's going to compromise on what constitutes a verifiable description of the place - which I'm sure he wouldn't do - then we have to go with all the furniture as described.
Here's a thought. Maybe the flaming sword is a lightsabre and the cherubim are those training remote things made from Airfix car model kits that Luke used in Star Wars. Then the garden might be in Elstree Studios or ILM.

The garden may be anywhere, and personally, I think that's kind of the point - the authors intent (or the will of the audience..or both). A standin for -x- wherein x is kind of up to you. To use starwars... "A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away" - works better than "26million years (add months days and minutes...maybe mention a day of the week), at XGH7-128876" - as a narrative.

Snowy, compromise? Surely not!
