Was Jesus a God or a man?
September 22, 2014 at 11:28 am
I believe Jesus was a man that laid his life down freely for the good of his people. This is a ultimate example of LOVE.
No Resurrection=LOVE
Resurrection=nothing
If Jesus was God then he was the same God that used incest to populate the world, drowned millions of innocent babies and children in the flood. The same vain and cruel God that has caused so much death and prejudice.
I believe Jesus died to STOP religion not to start a new one!
The bible does say God hates Religion.
Amos 5:16-23
23. Away with the noise of your songs!
I will not listen to the music of your harps.
I don't believe God has ever spoken to anyone. Some men believed God was cruel and other men believed God was love. This is why the bible is so contradictory.
Belief is not knowledge! Beliefs are a reflection of the believer!
To believe in nothing; that's a negative.
Belief in a Cruel God makes a Crueler Man. Thomas Paine with minor edit crueler instead of cruel.

I'll take the third option - that jesus simply wasn't. As such he didn't die to save us from sin -or- religion, and should we desire salvation from either (in however stretched a form you take either concept) - no hero is required. I would actually propose that such a hero would interfere with that salvation, not facilitate or accomplish it.

I believe Jesus was man who laid down his life because he was a cult leader so delusional and self important that he had only vaguest grasp of the potential consequence of his own action. He was a Marshall Applewhite who happen to be born into a particularly susceptible part of the world during a susceptible age.
He is the ultimate example of why the land of Israel didn't need any prophets, but the world had an unfulfilled need for many insane asylums in the land of Israel.

Yeah I dunno why OP starts with the idea that Jesus was some sort of moral exemplary, or why we would even care that he "died to save us from religion".
In every country and every age, the priest had been hostile to Liberty.

The good of his people? The people who were subsequently ass-kicked by the Romans?
You start off stating a belief and then go on to state beliefs are a reflection of the believer (which is certainly true).
How do you know your belief means anything other than listening to yourself in an echo chamber?

Quoting the Old Testament is only permitted when it is convenient for Christian purposes.

I am a Christian I agree Jesus died to save us from religion, when we become so concerned about rules that we forget to think about God. Secondly I disagree with you on every thing you said apart from that. I believe Jesus was God born into man. I also believe that there was a resurrection because without it the whole believe of Jesus would be pointless. I also believe that resurrection is love as Jesus died on the cross for or sins so we don't need to be punished for them.
I also believe God is a God of love and wrath. My reason for this being that you can one day be loving and the next angry it doesn't mean you have become inaccurate and contradictory.
