Read the bible and see how we are supposed to act toward our fellow men and women as christians. Read the words of Jesus. That's the standard by which we are to live.
Matthew 22:36-40New International Version (NIV)
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
If a person doesn't live by these standards, then that person is not following Christ, whether they call themselves christians or not.

Quick question, if I may. Why don't you scrap the rest of the book and just keep that bit, if that's all that's important? You're just making yourselves targets by hanging on to all that iron age immorality and bloodshed.

Yes, and if your love of god gets in the way of your love of man, you're expected to pick god and either push away or kill your fellow man. The bible is littered with passages on how exactly you are supposed to treat people who aren't in your group, and it isn't pleasant.

Yes, imagine being commanded to love. It is a fucking disgusting idea and makes me wonder weather the bible writers had any idea what love was.

I've read the Bible. What is good in the Bible is not original, what is original is not good.
The Bible is a secondthird-rate source for good ethics.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

I've read the Bible. What is good in the Bible is not original, what is original is not good.

Even the good parts don't hold up to scrutiny. Jesus said "do to others what you would have done to you." Looks great on paper, but what if I'm a masachist that wants people to cut or something even stranger? Love thy neighbor as thyself, what if I'm suicidal?

You say all of that, but right above, in this very thread, you tell us, that it was A-OK with you and your god/jesus/ghost, via a human Moses soldier of course, to kill infants. Apparently, death is preferable than not following the ways of Yahweh. Gotta do what the priest/leader, I mean Yahweh says! Now, those dead babies are in heaven - at the hands of a human.
And a Muslim gets 72 virgins in heaven if he martyrs himself in the Name of Allah. Doing Allah's work justifies flying airplanes into buildings. See any parallels there Lek?

From Matt 10:

So what you really meant to say is that Jesus commands you to love, but firstly, he commands you to love him, even at the expense of your parents or children. If you love your family more than you love him, you'll spend Hell in eternity.
That's a very different kettle of fish than your cherry-picking would indicate.
Additionally, the fact that there are so many Christians whom you'd say are unChristian seems to be pretty good evidence that as a moral and ethical code, Christianity is not compelling. These people confess the faith. Who are you to judge them? And what would they say about your take on Christianity?

You guys are demonizing christians, but if you throw out your prejudices and really looked around, you'd find that christians in general are more moral than the average population. They also do more to help people in need than the rest of the general population.
