You're making a mountain out of a molehill. I took it in the same sense that we are all human and make mistakes. To say that, "the best of men are men at best." isn't just about males.

I've listened to enough Christian counseling shows to know the mindset and its not all that sinister, even though I don't agree with much of it. It is always clear that the person who cheated was in the wrong, even if the victim may have in some way facilitated it. From a biblical perspective the victim has no further obligations to the cheater. The only obligation they have is to God and recognition of one's own shortcomings is helpful for practicing forgiveness. If the victim chooses to restore the marriage then its just reality to point out that they must be involved in the change as well.

Except cheating isn't always about the cheating. It's a symptom something else is wrong in the relationship. Someone's needs, emotional, sexual, intimacy-wise, whatever, are not being met, so they seek fulfillment elsewhere. That's what oftentimes needs fixing, not glossing over and forgiving and forgetting. I'm dubious of any marital advice that doesn't look at why the cheater cheated in the first place.
