Slaves could be beaten as long as they waited until three days to die I am at my phone so can't link to the corresponding verses but in Deuteronomy a man could marry his war captive as long as he gave her a month to mourn her family that he probably slaughtered in front of her. I notice a lot of bible apologists act as if that verse doesn't exist Also, the people weren't just beaten by the bears, they were mauled. Beating someone up for calling you a name is stupid but killing them is even worse.
