Probably suffering some major health problems resulting from unbridled excesses. If it is a coup, I think the usurper would have shown themselves by now.
Interestingly, Although it is hard to imagine North Korean patron China as being very happy with North Korea's antics, China usually keeps its official commentaries on North Korea blend and diplomatic. But last week Chinese communist party official newpaper appearently launched a rather strident, for a chinese communist newpaper, attack on North Korea, saying its leadership is untrustworthy, and had a long history of breaking promises and international agreement, and lies routinely, etc.
It would be interesting to see how that fits into the puzzle of what is going on in North Korea.

CIA has a listening device in the Corona bottle, but it isn't sending back any useful telemetry right now except that kimchi stinks.
