Why do atheists deny that they are just biorobots?
RE: Why do atheists deny that they are just biorobots?
Okay then. For the record, I will take the many previous posts to heart. I was wrong. Neither theism or atheism qualifies as a worldview, but atheism is unique in that it serves as only a conclusion without any further intellectual import.

Theism is in precisely the same position (atheism isn't unique in -that- regard) , if were using theism to mean "belief in a god" rather than as a descriptor between different types of god beliefs. A person may conclude it, and nothing has to follow from it (and what does, as stated?).

Personally I don't use the term that way myself, but it's -been- used that way throughout the thread...so I figured I'd run with it.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Excellent. Except, atheism isn't unique in that respect at all. Any form of non-belief - like a-fairyism, a-bigfootism, a-ghostism, a-chakraism, a-soulism etc all fall in the same category.

Nope, wrong again, Chad.

An agnostic atheist (most of us here) does not deny the possible existence of gods, merely the utter lack of evidence for any.

So, when investigating physical reality, there is no presupposition. If evidence of divine influence is found, then that would be acknowledged. Yes, honestly.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

Hehe yeah, I don't deny reality. If god was here right now slapping his junk in my face, I wouldn't sit here and type that nothing was happening. (He's everywhere, right? Even in my bum?)

What is everywhere but undetectable, and effects everything in ways indistinguishable from no effect?

Ahhh... it's great to be able to come on here and chat about this stuff. I've had to promise my wife to stop talking about it. She's not religious, she's just sick of hearing all my crap.

Oh, I think that if we really put our heads to it, that's one of the least uncomfortable places that we can place such a creature. He's on the tip of every sex offenders penis, after all.

Did I hear the cue for my song?

God is in his holy temple...
Earthly thoughts be silent now...
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Then when pressed to define those conclusions, they back away into the "no, no, atheism is simply the lack of belief." I suppose it is fair to say atheism doesn't really mean anything other than that disbelief, but it seems to serve many very well as a springboard for various doctrines like naturalism, moral relativism, and fatalism. When that is the case, I think it petty when someone focuses on semantics and not really defend the issues he or she are promoting.

It's kinda the opposite for me. There are some things that must follow, for sure, but mostly it's my take on the world that leads to my atheism rather than my atheism leading to other views. And I take the more positive view that there aren't gods.

I haven't watched this thread for a few days, so I didn't see this reference.

But according to scripture, god is watching us like a scientist may watch an ant colony. He's experimenting too and seems specially interested in our mating habits and how to control them.

By modern definition, it's the perfect Sim game. You know, like The Sims, godsplay or something along these lines.
