You think YOU were embarrassed?? I'm a Jimmy Buffett fan. Mediocre melodies, (usually) sophomoric lyrics, musicianship that's (at best) run-of-the-mill.

Still, there's something about him...

UK. They were pretty much everywhere here too. Even amidst the rebellion going on around them.

I think, they were even more successful than the Beatles.

Actually, me and my friends faced kind of a dilemma when growing up. We hated disco, which was all the rage in the late 70ies. So we went back a decade and listened to music from the 60ies.

These songs are still my favorites, since I have a brother who's 15 years my senior. Even being a baby I couldn't escape the songs of the Who, the Stones and all the other groups rising and falling at that time.

That reminds me of a trip to France in 79. It was in the charts back then, together with "Does your mother know?"

The irony is that after I got the "Magic Of ABBA" Album I got the "Super Trooper" Album and at the time hated this song which I love now.

I hated it too. I found it pretty kitschy. But you certainly have watched the documentary, I guess. It falls into the time when the relationship - can't remember if she was involved with Björn or Bennyi - ended. The song is about that and I see it in a different light now.

By the way, where are you from?

I look back at that song having never dated or been married at that time because I was too young. But looking back at it it is a very mature song about handling pain and break ups without getting bitter or vindictive. It is acceptance. Life goes on.

Did Abba make the charts in the US too?
