....if god is going to intervene that directly, why not just change the genetic trait to something benign instead of murdering the people who had no choice in inheriting it? God sounds like kind of a dick.

People keep putting arbitrary obstacles and restrictions on the super being to make out he is having to compromise in some way.

Benevolent people don't destroy everyone they don't like. They try to improve society so those types of people either aren't around or don't have the power to do much harm. One of the primary aspects of love is putting others before yourself, so I'm not sure how Yahweh can be described as a god of love.
