I was born in SC but my mother moved to Fayetteville, NC when I was five weeks old so it is safe to say I am from NC.

Quote:Fayetteville is sitting near the top of some national polls, but for Fayetteville police it is unwanted notoriety.
According to published reports, 2012 FBI crime numbers show that when compared to other cities its size, Fayetteville has some of the highest crime rates in the country.
People used to call my home city, Fayettenam. Much to my surprise I found that term on Urban Dictionary

I spent my entire adulthood trying to live anywhere but here. When my mom became ill, I moved back in the region just not in Fayetteville itself.
NC is actually a very pretty state but I live in the Sandhill region which, to me, isn't as beautiful as the rest of the state.

Nifty. Clam Gulch isn't quite as attractive of a town name to be from
Been there, dug the clams, skipped the T-shirt.

We lived in Lillington for quite awhile, and I went to Cape Fear Christian Academy where my mom taught fifth and sixth grades.
The best story I have from there goes a little like this:
I had Bible study with Miss Connie every morning, starting in kindergarten. My parents used to joke about "the Gospel according to Miss Connie" when I would spout stuff she said at the dinner table.
One afternoon, after my day in the first grade, I was in the den watching Sesame Street, when the song "Which Comes First (The Chicken or the Egg)" came on:
I went into the kitchen, where my mom was paying bills or doing other grown-up stuff, and I asked her: "Mom? Which came first- the chicken or the egg?"
My mom said, "well, Becca, you need to answer that question yourself."
I said, "well... the egg must've come first 'cuz the chicken had to hatch out of the egg."
My mom answered, "well... that could be true, but think about it a little more."
I thought for a second, then said, "well... that can't be right. The chicken must've come first because the chicken had to lay the egg."
My mom said, "you see? That's why you need to think about these things!"
I said, "but Mom. Miss Connie says Adam and Eve came first."
Mom replied, "well, according to the Bible, that's true."
I asked, "Mom? Do you think Adam... laid Eve?"
She said, "probably," then called all of her friends to laugh at me.

I really don't know Cleveland all that well at all, because whenever I am there, it is my grandparents or aunt who takes me to see the sights. If I busted out on an RTA bus, it would be quite different. I lived in Parma as a child. I don't really like that city much because of bad experiences there.

You were a joy to your mother .. and all her friends too.
But if your mom was a christer, why did she encourage you to think about things? Was she a subversive?

That reminds me, I think I never posted here...
I grew up on the edge of the Rhine valley in the southern Palatinate region, a stone's throw from the border to Alsace. One of the main wine producing regions in Germany.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
