Last time I talked to him his dad was in the hospital for something, had a pick on his FB page showing them smiling so it couldn't have been too major. Hoping he can spend time with me on skype today watching the Skins end their misery of a season vs Dallas. HB is no big fan of football but having been born in Texas he loves the friendly trash talk so if it gets him a laugh beating Washington it is worth the smile on his face for me.

He's doing well as far as I know right now though.

There is a review of the top things of 2014 on the front page of their website. Of the 12 articles, 6 are about celebrities, 2 are about sports, 1 is about politics and 0 are about world events. CNN is a joke of a network. I seriously question anybody who would think they are good.

That was bullshit when Lincoln said it.

We willingly elect governments to ensure societal controls are maintained. By definition government will control 'the people', if that means lying to the people then I can only say, well what do you expect?

Mass control clearly does not work, and can never work. I believe it is time we considered government on a much smaller scale. It seems to me a 'tribal' (for want of a better word) society is not necessarily a bad idea - small groups with local government - and there is plenty of scope to debate what it would look like in a modern world.

In the UK the trend is toward de-centralisation, it's not a huge leap to take this to the next level. It was - after all - down to an effete royal line that the Kingdoms were United in the first place.

We need fresh ideas to revitalise our aged political structures, anarchy is clearly not a grown-up option, the left and the right are fragmenting and pissing on their own shoes trying to politicise issues that are important to modern people (such as environmentalism). If we are going to make a change then let's be bold in our debate.
