I'm 39 and childless, and intend to remain so. I do notice "sir" and "ma'am" are gone. People I buy things from like to pal around a bit too much for my liking. Also, certain tenets of fashion I just don't understand, such as flat-brimmed caps, especially on a white guy.

My kids didn't realize that flares are retro. That kinda did it for me. And that was 10 years ago.

We're all on our way out. Act accordingly. With that being said I am 21, have no kids, no wife, no real responsibilities and I will continue to live under the delusion that I'll be young forever. Don't ruin this for me.

My problem with religious people is not the fact that they hold the beliefs they do, my problem is when they claim that those beliefs make logical sense. If you wish to hold beliefs in fairy tales, that is fine with me. I still think you're silly, but that is fine. But the moment you claim that your views concerning those subjects can safely operate in any realm other than the realm of faith and/or fiction is the moment you deserve to be called on your bullshit.

Speaking of lawns. There's this guy who walks his dog past our house every day, and he does a big crap on my lawn. Every single time! Sometimes the dog does one too.

What makes me feel old is when I find myself giving unsolicited advice with the best intentions of keeping my (grand)children from making the same painful mistakes I made and learned from.
Then grokking the futility of giving advice I received from my parents and ignored and the certainty that my offspring will also ignore it.
I don't really feel old, I'm still me, just a slower and more painful me.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?

I asked my grandmother once how old she felt. She told me that she didn't really feel older than around 17 and still felt shocked to look in a mirror and see an old lady looking back at her.

That's one way to look at it and I tend to agree when it's all about feeling. But reflecting on what was important at age 17 and what's now important, tends to show me a different picture. My inner self has changed radically on social, political and religious issues for starters.

I understand what you are saying. My grandmother had a very goofy humor and seemed much younger than her seventies(when I asked that question)but she had also lived through physical abuse and very dire poverty so she must have changed from a naive teenager girl to a much older woman. I think she literally meant how she felt and not that she hadn't grown as an individual since 17. Perhaps she meant that she didn't feel as if she was any age, because I don't either. I just feel like me.
