If it tastes good, it can't be filled with weed. We have to smother that stuff in chocolate to get rid of the taste.
Welcome aboard, anyway. It's good to be open to arguments, and I'll no doubt respond to whatever threads you make if you ask questions. Just be prepared for some salty language; that will definitely happen from some of us.

Yeah, I like doing that!
It bugs me that so many "people of faith" choose to make themselves anti-intellectual; I really don't think it has to be that way.
We have a few around here who will convince you otherwise.

Hm. Yeah, that's what I'm not really interested in. I'm not into verbally abusing people who disagree with me, and it bugs me when other people are.

This place will occasionally test your tolerance for stupidity if nothing else.
Just think of the 'salty language' as another condiment.
Used judiciously it covers the taste of rotting offal and bad argumentation.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?

Welcome, GriffinHunter. You should find what you're looking for here.

Then my advice to you is don't do that, if it bugs you that much. Everyone has their own unique way of expressing themselves; sometimes that involves use of language that some might find distasteful or objectionable, and you don't need salty language for that. You'd be surprised, I hope, just how often some people threaten others with eternal torture, for example.
All that said, generally speaking you get as good as you give around here. And there's always the Staff to keep discussion on the rails.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Welcome! Good to see you're open to discussion. Start a thread on a topic you're particularly interested in, and we'll get into it!
As far as the language goes, most people here won't "verbally abuse" you. We might use colorful language while discussing your ideas, though.
You gotta remember, though. This is the internet. People will say dumb shit to you just to say it.
Focus on the earnest responses, and you will be fine.
I look forward to discussing with you!

See, it's not necessarily abusive, just lacking in patience for tired arguments, or perhaps not conventionally polite. We swear here; it doesn't need to be at you, but it does happen. It's just that we've seen a lot of the arguments that theists like to use over and over, it's easy to get tired of them and to answer impatiently. But it isn't personal, that's my point.

Yeah, I understand. It sounds like we're on the same page. I don't have anything against swearing.
And I agree! Many theists use very lousy arguments and generally fail completely to respond to the good arguments of their opponents.
I hope you guys here realize that just as not all atheists are the same, so are not all theists the same. Stereotypes exist for a reason, but they aren't always accurate.
