You already accept Thor as not a good answer to explain lightening. You I hope rightfully would reject Poseidon as the cause of Hurricanes. I simply reject one more god claim than you do.
I promise nothing horrible will happen to you if you give up on bad claims. I see awesome stuff in nature without any of that. The only thing that will change for you is your view of reality. The good news is there really is no invisible man watching you like a security guard in a cosmic prison. The good news is that there is no invisible man waiting to pounce on you for thinking for yourself. No it is not a call to be lawless or rape or murder. It simple is an acceptance of reality.
NO you DO NOT, you want a puppet master to explain evolution,
Understanding evolution does not require Allah, or Vishnu, or Thor or Jesus. Evolution is a science and does not need a god of the gaps of any label to explain the process. I also explained in evolutionary psychological terms why god claims and religions pop up, and you skipped that part. Humans make bad guesses as to the nature of reality, THAT is why god claims and religions pop up. Because humans are notoriously flawed in their perceptions. No different a mistake a kid would make at Halloween mistaking the covered bowl of olives in the dark room as eyeballs. Humans fill in the gaps because it makes them feel good, it feels right, but it is a false perception, nothing more. RE: i believe

I'd suggest just ending the conversation, Carm. Brian isn't always super clear or consistent with the points he makes, and this isn't exactly the topic of this thread.

Might be a good idea

We wouldn't even need an eye if we were perfectly designed. We'd just know what was going on.
Why are we designed to be looking out for danger? Who put that danger there? Why put a t-Rex this close to the camp? Run! Feel free to send me a private message.

No its not the same. We don't believe in god because there is no evidence. You don't believe in evolution despite the evidence. Also the default position if evolution was wrong (it isn't) is not "god did it" but "we don't know". You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis. |
