Except when you're a medical professional who has taken an oath to do no harm (most practising doctors) and are ethically bound to treat/refer anyone and everyone who comes to you without prejudice (all medical staff & professionals). Of course, anyone is free to breach that ethical framework, but they just can't practise medicine legally anymore if they do. ^_^

Did you know accountants have ethical frameworks as well? And that if you breach those you're can have your chartered status stripped and be barred from calling yourself an accountant?

I suggest you learn something about ethical frameworks and what it is to be a doctor or medical professional before talking about it.

I do know a little about the ethical framework for medical professionals.  The code of ethics for doctors only require them to see a patient if it is an emergency.  That was not the case here.

Doctors get to set the hours of their practice, how much they charge(in most instances), and in non emergency situations that patients they see.  If the doctors are employees then their employers decide these things.

Your "Nah you don't" utterly fails as an effective counter argument.

Thanks for giving me the last word.  To be brutally honest.  For a PHD student in political science, your arguments suck. That's all I have to say.  I'm done with this thread.

First, Healthcare is a commodity whether want it to be or not. It is human labor and human labor is a commodity.  Would you have done that job for free?  If healthcare isn't a commodity to be sold, you should be willing to provide it whenever it is needed without any compensation whatsoever.   

Simple response: “Illness is neither an indulgence for which people have to pay, nor an offence for which they should be penalised, but a misfortune, the cost of which should be shared by the community.”

Consequently healthcare is not a commodity but a service.

I would say healthcare is not a commodity but a right (and a service provided by professionals) - As for medical ethics, I don't actually oppose doctors not performing abortions if there's someone else who is available to do it because I understand the different conceptions of life people have but treating children of same-sex couples does not violate your ethics in anyway - In fact, it is completely irrelevant who the parents are and what they do, what matters is that you have to treat someone - In this case you are basically saying "fuck you" to a kid because of what their parents did or do.
