Do theists usually lack developed character?

In my opinion it's a chicken/egg question. I rather tend to believe that these are people looking for an anchor in their lives. They want to be taken by the hand and led every step of the way. And of course such people are easily manipulated to buy and execute every dogma put forward.

Sorry I didn't mean to misrepresent what you said. So what do you mean by that?!

I mean people sin in many ways and are judged for all their sins, so quit saying that they're damned only for unbelief.

But denying the holy spirit alone is sufficient for being damned according to the bible!

But really, the more religious someone is, the more they believe in their doctrines (for the big religions anyway) the more they must think I'm unworthy and am going to be punished just for "refusing to believe" while giving me no good reason that I should believe.
Er, no, I don't think you'll be punished just for "refusing to believe." You'll be punished for all your sins. As James notes, the demons believe in the existence of God. They'll still be punished.
^ Here you argue against robvalue, essentially telling him that he is not going to be punished merely for refusing to believe. Now you admit that he would be punished for refusing to believe alone.

Given that the biggest predictor of religious affiliation is the affiliation of one's family, I find it a stretch to suggest that there are unique traits to religious people such as 'looking for an anchor' which differentiate them from ordinary folks. Rather I find that major differences of opinion often lead to 'explanations' that are little more than crass stereotypes. When people separated by a large divide confront each other, emotions flare, leading to all sorts of mistaken judgements, on both sides.

And as he has sinned in other ways, he will not be punished just for refusing to believe.

As far as I can tell, you're missing a point to your argument.

That you are blatantly in contradiction with yourself?
