I played b-ball with the Holy Spirit once. He brought it in weak and I was like BAM! Denied!

Denying the holy spirit is traditionally perceived as a deadly sin.
Sure, but I've never met someone who was sinless except for that, and the claim I responded to said "just for."

That is a generalization best avoided unless you have solid data to back it up. You'll find even more theists who will the same thing about atheists. Both must be held to the same standard.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

So you're claiming the above is not really saying that denying the holy spirit gets you punished, it's just a general symptom of sinfulness and not by itself a deadly sin? Man, the lengths you Christians go to twist the words of your God's until they suit you...
Quote:Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

I'm pretty sure I'm entirely sinless except for that one time I fucked the holy spirit in the ass. Am I cool?

Really? The "It was the holy spirit, honey" excuse? That's like the oldest one in the book...

No, I didn't say that at all.
Quote:it's just a general symptom of sinfulness and not by itself a deadly sin?
No, I didn't say that either.

Says the person twisting my words until they suit him.

This is the error. We were talking about judgment. Now you bring in forgiveness. They're two different things, but you conflate them.
Judgment is based on all your sins. The greatest commandment is to love god, but the second greatest is to love your neighbor as yourself. If you haven't loved your neighbor as yourself, then don't pretend you're going to hell just for unbelief.
Forgiveness is a function of mercy. God can grant mercy on any condition he chooses. He chooses belief (and as noted, not mere belief in his existence, but rather faith in Christ's work on the cross).
That mercy is based only on faith does not mean that the judgment for which you need mercy was based only on lack of faith.

That you call your deity perfectly just does not mean that there is anything remotely just in the equivocal terms of forgiveness, mercy, and judgement you Christians like to employ.

Sorry I didn't mean to misrepresent what you said. So what do you mean by that?!
