The Wonder of Reality

RE: The Wonder of Reality
Hey Zebsies, did you know that the chance of you being born exactly as you are calculated to be 1 in 400 trillion? That's 4 x 10^14

Pretty dang rad if you ask me

Pro tip: don't bother responding to riketto unless you want to get a load of gobbeldygook in response that makes no sense to anyone, not even him.

Have you got solid evidence to back up this sentence from Krauss?  Demon

Nowhere, at no time does Krauss ever claim to know, with absolute certainty, that the universe does not have a purpose. It is his simply his provisional conclusion based on his immense knowledge of physics and the lack of evidence that the universe does have a purpose.

It does not go unnoticed when you try to shift the burden of proof.

Is this also made by matter?

Every example of consciousness ever observed, without exception, is an emergent property of a physical brain. Consciousness arises from the electro-chemical processes of brains.

Please give one demonstrable example of consciousness that exists absent a physical brain.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

There's an obvious response to that, Simon. FSM Grin

RE: The Wonder of Reality
I find it amazing that life appears to be simply one possible state of matter. Jellyfish have no brains (and therefore no consciousness that we can tell), and no hearts. They do not even have a nervous system, just rudimentary nerves on the end of their tentacles. They are basically just eating and swimming machines. There are many animals in the ocean like this, corals for instance. And what about Virus's? They aren't even technically alive, yet they are not dead matter either, like a lump of coal.

Life is so amazing and so diverse, just right here on this time planet.

Those odds are beyond mindblowing. Statistics like that provide me with more awe than any religion. Thanks for sharing Big Grin

I love this video too: http://youtu.be/IOXMjCnKwb4

Except that it isn't. We can easily demonstrate the phenomenon to occur in computer simulations in which we control all the variables.

Are you kidding or what?
It is you that start stating so called truth which are not backed by any evidence at all
like saying that the consciousness come from matter so please give me a brake and
think twice before you accuse me to hijack the thread.  Hi

I beg your pardon!!!.
In the reference that Zebra show us it clearly say that Krauss state that the universe doesn't have a purpose so why should be me that should come up with the burden of proof?
It seems that your outlook is all upside down at the moment.

Scientists so far have found out that the consciousness and the brain need each other to work but they haven't found out whether the consciousness once the body die can
or can not continue to live without a body (brain included of course) so please don't state the obvious and neglect or refuse to see this possibility which by the way has already
been experienced by thousand of NDEs that the consciousness can live outside the brain.
The fact that the consciousness and the brain need each other while the person is alive does not means that the consciousness is a product of the brain.
If you think so you must back it up with solid evidence.
So far not even the clever scientists could find out any evidence in this regard so until this is the case you shouldn't state that the consciousness is an emergent property of a physical brain. Demon

The 'emergent' order is an artifact designed by an already intelligent entity.
