At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Yes! I had only seen him on the West Wing previously (and Blade Runner as it turns out I had forgotten), and he's really great.

Great pic, my favorite rendition of the Last Supper.  Oh yes, James Olmos is one of the best.  Did anyone see when he was in PBS's "American Family"?  It was about a Hispanic family in west LA, James E. Olmos was the father, Racquel Welch played his sister, and he had some grown kids, think he portrayed a widower.  I loved it.

I didn't have any problem with the religious/supernatural nature of some of the story arcs because it's fiction (That's where it belongs!). And until the last few episodes they kept it under control. I'd give re-imagined BSG 8/10.

The religious aspect did not bother me either.  I thought it was an interesting look at the conflict between polytheism and monotheism, what motivates some people to act as they do.  It was kind of a surprise to me at first that the Cylons were depicted as monotheists.  How that came about was explained in the spin off series "Caprica."

Ron Moore, the executive producer of the show, gave a talk about the subject:

It is another side of the supernatural forces that they [traditionally] believe control the universe.

I would say the force is more akin to Oriental philosophy, the Chinese yin/yang dichotomy, or even Zoroasterian, a universal struggle between good and evil.

If she is Jesus then I'm ready for some holy communion.

^^Well I guess that was the reason because there is somebody very hungry behind BSG that desperately needs excuse to eat even actors and that's why there is no food on BSG Last Supper pic, because somebody already ate it and you know who I'm talking about:

^^Hello that's mrs.ron. Among many things she made that robot montage in the end. I don't think that fatties give good b/j because they have strong instinct to chew and swallow everything they put in their mouth, let alone get it out of their mouth forever.

I'm just getting back online, I've been busy between Origins Game Fair and work, and have some catching up to do on certain threads but I did want to comment first on this one. The new series immediately turned me off at the opening, before anything even happened. Just compare and see what's missing in the second:

And the new series:

The music.

You call that a fucking opening theme?

Seriously?

Theme music is a lost art, it seems. I've seen this on other shows. We don't need John Williams any more. Just throw together a techno drum beat and we'll flash some quick action sequences across the screen and that will do.
