Why do they stay, or go back to abusers?
I figure it stems from a time when being a badass was the best way to advance in society (kings, knights, headmen, etc) and wives that stood up were removed from the population by violence.
It may be marginally better now that cube farm jobs have taken over from beating mules into pulling a plow all day. But a simple trigger pull could save so much suffering.....

If you or this supposed Christian wife actually read the passage in 1 cor 7 starting at verse three you would both see the command given by Paul does not favor the man's sexual desires only. What Paul does here is to take control of sex out of one person's hands and makes it about caring for one another. There is even a provision to stop sex for a while, if need be. Paul's command here is to prevent what this artical is all about.l

Because if my wife's needs are at the forefront of my concern as commanded, then I would know if having sex was a painful thing and stop it till we got that issue resolved, and like wise if she knew I needed to have sex to maintain my spiritual and physical health then she would want to be physically ready to have sex. If that meant a trip to the doctor, and a postpone,ENT in the mean while then I should (according To cor7) be ready to help her do that.

If a woman held a gunpoint submits to sex, is it not rape? The situation is the same, but instead of a gun here we have psychological blackmail. In both cases a woman is forced to have sex against her will, and in both cases it is rape.
Do you know why the changed the federal statute?
From against ones will to having consent of the victim?
Because the "will" of an individual at a given time is near impossible to prove. While consent is far easier to establish. Not to mention all who "change" their will once the sober up, even after they have given consent.
Like it or not we are a nation of laws and those laws are defined and are executed by the collective understanding of those definitions. In this case not wanting to have sex but consenting to it (unforced)is not the same as rape. Again read the statute.

I hope no one will be confused about the "kudos" for that. I hope you mean that you do not treat your wife like shit, and that is the reason for the kudos. However, I completely disagree with the idea that any of this has anything to do with the Bible. You should treat your wife well because she is a human being, and, hopefully, you actually care about her. This has nothing whatever to do with religion.

Could have quoted more recent replies, but this is the main thrust of them, it seems. It doesn't become less onerous so long as the other partner does it as well. Locking two rapists in a room together does not magically alter what it is that they're up to. I could sum this (and your other posts in thread) up, fairly, as "it's not rape when I do it, if she does it too", couldn't I?

I'm sure most Christians are moral enough to ignore disgusting parts of the bible like this. I don't care what reason they use to justify ignoring it, as long as they ignore it!
And they are I'm sure disgusted by people who blindly follow it, ignoring their own morality. Or perhaps mirroring it.
