The bullet passed through the brother’s head and lodged in the wall. The shooting has been ruled as accidental.
I am an advocate of Guns and Gun ownership. But this is gross negligence and the parents should be prosecuted. Unbelievable.

We have three rifles here. All have gun locks and are kept in a separate area of the house than the shotgun shells, away from the kids. Hell, I couldn't even tell you where the shells are.
Oh, and FYI, most state police barracks will give you gun locks for FREE. That's how we got all of ours.

I keep a pistol, loaded, for self defense. But then, there are no children in my house, when children enter my house guns are locked/children are not allowed in my bedroom. And I also have formal training on the subject.
I feel like with very minimal effort, a very large percentage of gun "accidents" could be prevented.

Making people smarter will take much more than a "minimal effort."
