I don't consider being preached at cool either. Especially if the particular sermons include disgusting social views.
fair enough

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I had no idea it bothered you so much, and won't do it again. I apologize.
One thing though, if you're allowed to tell me your opinion in regards to what I believe, I should be allowed to tell you my opinion in regards to what you say.
But rest assured, I won't do it anymore since it bothers you so much.
Sure, you can tell me I'm a cunt and an asshole and a piece of shit all day, I already know that. But it really gets on my nerve when you tell me 'be kind to so and so', and that's not your fucking opinion.

The problem with the really religious is that they personalize their faith to the point where any attack on the faith becomes a personal insult. The solution to that is to only visit religious sites where they all just pat each other on the head and bless each other for every cockamamie thing they say.
Yet you join in here? Willingly and in many cases quite humorously. Ever ask yourself why?
Am I still allowed to think it's not cool though?
Absolutely. It's still a free country..... more or less.

I really have never met a person who thinks gay people are vile.
I don't care of you're sorry, and I don't care if you meant to upset me, this isn't about my feewings being hurt cause I can deal with that myself.
I'm serious. Drop this denial shtick, it's irrelevant. What is it supposed to do? You haven't met anybody who hates gays, ergo nobody on earth hates gays? No? Then why the fuck do you bring it up?
Here, meet these fucks:
I never said people who think gays are vile don't exist. There are crazy people out there for everything. I said I have never met any, implying that they are rare. The Westboro baptists are a group of like 20 people who Christians in general condemn. They are twenty people out of 2.5 billion Christians around the world.
And I have never met them, thank goodness.

Can you post a where I said this to you, as not an opinion? I don't remember ever doing so, and don't believe I would.

Agreed!
That's all I was doing... just saying what I think, because I was asked.

You haven't met them so they're rare? What, do you know 90% of Christians?
No,they're not 20 of 2 billion, there's a LOT of people like that, and even if there wasn't, so fucking what? They still exist and still are christians.

He's saying that you could. He's not telling people that they need to be respectful or talk to each other a certain way on here. I don't need to respect your opinion that you think homosexual sex is immoral, or that you think the catholic church is a force of good in the world, or I especially don't need to respect someone's opinion that radical muslims, killing non-believers, is something to be respected. We don't need to be told to respect crazy opinions regarding religion, when we're on an atheist forum.
Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' -Isaac Asimov-
