"The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us..." should we be grateful?
RE: "The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us..." should we be grateful?
-and with that comment.....as I'd stated pages ago, you're clearly attempting to create a position of privilege for your religious beliefs which you do not extend else-wise. A taboo.

Shoe jokes: okay, jesus jokes: bad. No dice. That's how we, both of us, ended up in the positions we're now in to -begin- with. Me, railing against faith and the church, and you, determined to convince me that it's changed. If your opinion in -this- regard can be traced back to your religious faith....and such is obviously and demonstrably the case..then no, it hasn't changed. You're still the authors of self serving taboo which you feel should be extended outwards......to me.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Sorry, but if someone enters the lion's den voluntarily to post what I consider ludicrous bullshit, it's gloves off. Nobody invited them after all. It's their decision to submit themselves to all kinds of challenges, including making fun of them if their positions actually are laughing stock material.

Absolutely. Doesn't mean I have to think it's cool, though. Shy
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Really? REALLY?

You don't know many people then, or you're just lying.

You know what pisses me off? Your reaction to everything bad religious people might say or do. 'It couldn't happen here'. 'I don't know anyone like that'. 'That is not the norm'. Are you really that deep in denial? It's irrelevant. It's not countering anything that is said to you. It's not evidence against what is being said. It's just your bubble.

And it's really fucking annoying you know? And pretty disrespectful, too, when your reaction to how the RCC fucked me over is 'where was that? it couldn't happen in the US'. I don't know if its your defense mechanism to preserve your image of religious people or your church or just dishonesty, but for fucks sake, please drop it.

I'm sorry you're so upset. I did not mean to upset you.

I really have never met a person who thinks gay people are vile.

Exactly. So please don't tell me to be kinder, Cath.

I had no idea it bothered you so much, and won't do it again. I apologize.

One thing though, if you're allowed to tell me your opinion in regards to what I believe, I should be allowed to tell you my opinion in regards to what you say. Wink

But rest assured, I won't do it anymore since it bothers you so much.

Like I said a couple posts back. I still think it's not cool to make fun of a person here. My opinion.

It is a discussion board.  It's better than screaming in CAPS.

The problem with the really religious is that they personalize their faith to the point where any attack on the faith becomes a personal insult.  The solution to that is to only visit religious sites where they all just pat each other on the head and bless each other for every cockamamie thing they say.

Yet you join in here?  Willingly and in many cases quite humorously.  Ever ask yourself why?

I don't consider being preached at cool either. Especially if the particular sermons include disgusting social views.

I don't care of you're sorry, and I don't care if you meant to upset me, this isn't about my feewings being hurt cause I can deal with that myself.

I'm serious. Drop this denial shtick, it's irrelevant. What is it supposed to do? You haven't met anybody who hates gays, ergo nobody on earth hates gays? No? Then why the fuck do you bring it up?

Here, meet these fucks:
