AF Biggest Loser/Fitness Challenge-May 3 to Whenever We're Not Fat Anymore
RE: AF Biggest Loser/Fitness Challenge-May 3 to Whenever We're Not Fat Anymore
Made some sudden progress, apparently due to my acquisition of new support stockings. After hovering in the 225-227 area for a while, my weight dropped three pounds into the 222 range, probably due to getting excess fluid out of my legs.

I've also been trying to keep up with intermittent fasting, although with a fairly lenient "window" of 12 hours rather than 8 hours. Am tending to eat larger meals more to the protein/fat side, although I still snack on carbs.

Exercise has been mostly gardening lately. I'm signed up for an adult beginner ballet course, but it doesn't start till next week.

Officially scared now. At the doctor's office and I have been weighed. Not going to give out numbers, but with my one year anniversary of my quitting smoking approaching I am beginning to wonder if it was worth it. I looked at the scale and literally wanted to cry.

My eating habits have not changed for the worse. My kids can tell you that. I eat a normal amount of food and I stay away from junk so why the fuck am I still gaining weight? No one seems to be able to tell me a fucking thing so maybe I'll just stop eating all together.

(((Joods)))

Don't stop eating -- body needs fuel. There's got to be something else at play, like hormones going out of whack (stress can do crap like that).

Have you tried calorie counting for a few weeks just to see what your range is?

Yeah, I noticed that I actually have to eat way less now than I used to in order to maintain my weight. My metabolism probably changed, and I'm less active. If most of my diet isn't protein and veggies, I don't lose weight.

I don't lose weight unless I drastically cut carbs (10-15% of my total caloric intake) and increase protein (40-50%). The remainder is healthy fats. Other than that, drink lots of fluids, get plenty of fiber, and eliminate added sugar wherever possible.

Learn what your base caloric requirements are for your weight and cut 500-1000 calories per day for 1-2 lbs per week weight loss. You'll need to adjust as you lose as your caloric requirements drop.

That's what's worked for me so far. Other than that, I got nothing.

I don't suppose you have an opportunity to see a nutritionist?

Also, it seems that what is considered a 'normal' amount of food is more than one might think.

If in doubt, find out the nutrition information for what you eat and weigh your food.

It's almost impossible not to lose weight using the above method, even with hormone imbalances, which usually just make it more difficult, not impossible.

Still holding steady.  Just got back from the Y where I pedaled for just under 50 minutes to burn 500 calories and then did all my weight stations.  I think my increased activity is simply enabling my eating a higher number of calories each day.  Maybe I'll eventually get my mojo back for actually dropping my final extra pounds.  Meanwhile holding steady at 190.  =(

We entertained last night so lots of food for dinner in addition to the gazpacho I made.  But that soup will be din din for the next few days.  Of course I also made a glazed nectarine pie.  The good news is it was entirely eaten.  The bad news is there was enough fruit and glaze left over to nearly fill the first crust which I burned a little bit.  Too bad that won't prevent us from eating it.  No scone today though.

I usually fall short of 1000 calories per day. I am aware that this is a problem because if you don't eat enough you can gain weight from that. I'm just not very hungry most of the time.

I can see a nutritionist at the Bariatric clinic. They put me on 1200 calories per day and I struggle to meet that now as it is.

Up until I quit smoking, I have never experienced this sort of problem before. And I'm frustrated because I don't have answers to what's wrong with me.
