Why do they think that would that make joes uncomfortable? We spoon in holes in the dirt for warmth (and sometimes just because it's easier to sleep cuddled up, lol) with men we've showered with more than just once. Some of those cats have always been all sorts of queer and other brands of strange - and they've never really fooled anyone else about it.
Had a guy in my unit who was either trans, or just a cross dresser...but I wouldn't know which, nobody knew, nobody fuckin asked. Ran good time, he could shoot, partied like a motherfucker.

You are living in a utopia. Just like other species compete for resources humans are no different. It would be wonderful if there were no human conflicts between groups, but that is the reality we live in. So if you are going to give me the choice of having an imperfect government with a military, or having no military and say allowing China or Iran invading us and over running us, sorry, I am going to choose that imperfect government.
As I said in a prior post, the better argument would be to argue long term foreign policy and long term military tactics. But a military will happen regardless and it is wrong to blame the individual military member. Theocracies like Iran and Saudi Arabia and dictatorships like North Korea have military as well.
I hate war and do prefer diplomacy as a default to conflict. I do not think we should always get involved, but no, I refuse to blame our diverse military individuals who come from all classes and political parties.
If you don't like something about a conflict, the politicians hold the control over that and that is were your criticism belongs.

I actually agree with Khemikal on this one.
I had a spotter that was gay and he didn't tell me until we had been working together for over a year and were on a hillside for five days. He didn't make it public knowledge and I would have never freaken guessed. The guy couldn outrun my hands down, could drink with the best of them, and I never noticed a chubby in the showers.

Not that it would -be- strange to see some chub in the showers..long time between girls, all that soap and lathering. Crack a couple gay jokes, everybody laughs, owner of said chub plays gay chicken revenge. I'm just sayin..it happens.

lol, reminds me of a time deployed for Desert Storm. Showers were communal but separated by curtains, and one of the guys caught Sgt Mosby jacking off. We were giving him shit about it for ten or fifteen minutes when he snapped, "It's my soap and my dick, I'll wash it as fast as I want!"
Needless to say, with a comeback that funny, we would give him more shit on occasion to see what other gems he could toss off ... so to speak, of course.

Auh. The good old days.
We walked up on a SOAR crew chief we assumed was rubbing one off in a buggy on a C130 trip and Asked if he was okay. Didn't even turn around. Told us that if we weren't going to help, we were just a distraction.
This place needs a military thread.
