Do ( D )s sell more guns than ( R )s?

RE: Do ( D )s sell more guns than ( R )s?
We've had this very convo (take away the cars) more than a handful of times on the boards. The main difference, to cut it very short, is that confiscating everyone's car would immediately cause the complete destruction of our entire economy.

Cars are risky, but it's a risk weighed against necessity and heavily regulated. Guns...I love em, but they're not cars. Brians passionate about guns, you're apparently passionate about cars, apparently. The two of you can tackle both issues as advocates at the same time.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Nonsense. I don't see any way to take away half of the guns in the country, but taking away half of the cars would be a pretty easy thing to do over the course of a few years. It won't collapse the economy. That's just "I can't possibly live without my car" hysteria. Most Americans can totally live without their car. Especially once everyone stops assuming that everyone has a car. And the lives saved? Oh my gosh, the people who manage to keep their cars will be the most careful drivers you've ever seen in your life. The only thing that you have to do to take people's cars is revoke their driving privilege when they abuse it. Half the cars off of the road in a few years, just like that! Tons of car pooling. Way less traffic. Super careful drivers. Hardly anyone ever dying in a car accident.

And you do? Cause if it's saving lives that you want to do, I have the better plan.

I guess we have no choice but to play along, as usual, lol. I suppose that if you wanted to reduce the number of cars in this country one way to do that without too much fuss is the same way to do it with guns. Offer people money for them, and they'll bring them to you.

What? I already explained how easy it would be to take cars away from people. We won't have to pay them anything. And those who get to keep their cars will be really, really careful drivers. And car pooling will actually become popular. You know. By necessity.

Your gun buying plan sucks. The programs ran out of money by design. You can't do a buyback for a prolonged period of time. If you do, it will fizzle. Running out of money makes the program seem popular.

It's not a dichotomy. Brian's doesn't care about people being killed unless they are being killed by one of his hobbyhorse issues. That he doesn't give a shit about people being killed by cars is just one example of many things that Brian doesn't care about. Guns are just a Mount Moral that Brian that uses to take selfies on.
