For me I came to listen to voices of differing opinions than my own. I feel the only way I can grow intellectually is to continue to branch in to areas I don't know enough of as well as to listen to those that draw different conclusions than myself to the same questions.
Why did you come and what keeps you coming back?
Fair question. I almost wish you'd made a poll.

For myself, I guess I was wondering what were other peoples reasons for being atheist or having thoughtful positions about religion. What keeps me coming back is both the wit and company of many other posters -and- the opportunity to encourage theists toward more reasonable positions. I often feel that there is much worthwhile in what they get out of god belief but that they hamstring themselves with particular notions of gods which are untenable. Other than afterlife bullshit I think they can keep much of what they seem to like about it without swallowing so much cognitive dissonance.
