Yeah, I'm really not one for groups IRL either. They make me uncomfortable, regardless of whether they're religious/philosophical in nature or not. That's one of the reasons why I find the idea of gleefully going to church completely alien to me. Same with the whole "Don't you want a loving god to watch over you?" crap. If given the choice to be in a group or be independent, I'd choose independence every time, and it's not even close. It must be a psychological thing stemming from me always having an actual chaperone figure in my life nearly 24/7 due to my disability. I instinctively recoil from anything that would further impede what little independence I do have.
