He is an idiot. Not only does he believe a good deal of nonsense, you know engaging him in intelligent conversation is a waste of time (from your attempt to do so regarding slavery).
Also, judging from the family values drivel, he sounds like he is likely a religious nutjob as well. So I recommend never bringing up the subject of religion with him. Or, for that matter, talking with him at all, beyond what is absolutely necessary for your job.
If he is actually shouting, what does his boss think of him doing that? Why is he allowed to shout in the workplace?
