Don't get us wrong, Hitler was a bad guy and he did use Catholosism in general as a tool to manipulate the gullible sheep that was the general population. That is a far cry from Nazi = Catholic though. It's important that we never use logical fallacies to demonize those in opposition to us for at least two reasons:
1. You can't use an opponent's logical fallacy to destroy his/her argument if you're using the same fallacy, right?
2. We need to be better than our opponents. That's how we will win respect. We need to be honest in all of our arguments if we are to take the high ground. Bringing someone over to our side with a lie is counter-productive. They will discover the lie in the long run and resent us more than they did from the start.
We do not need to resort to bad arguments. Truth is our ally. Sticking with the truth will make us victorious in the end. If we get there any other way, we are no better than our opponents and will not deserve our victory.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
