There is a masonic temple replete with an altar.
Both have to do with the worship of a deity.
I do not know if all of their buildings are called temples.
Masonry is set up so the lower levels do not know the "Secrets" of the higher levels and only be placing curses on themselves as they ascend in degrees, do they learn the truth of their organization.
For everyone else it is a social group to make contacts in.
