He did win. He made the ultimate sacrifice, he destroyed himself and the evil god Yahweh in a celestial implosion. He freed us from tyranny, but he was sad to know we would then be without his guidance and care.
We must just be grateful that Yahweh is gone. I think this story got lost in translation, and it warped into a pretend sacrifice of Yahweh's hangnail in the form of a carpenter. Even in these tales where people try to paint Satan as the evil one, he still comes off as the moral hero.
