If the people doing the sinning would stop then there would not be a need for sacrifices, right. So killing innocent people wouldn't be wrong?

God kills what? Yes He's angry, His people are sinning against Him. That's why Jesus came to be the finial sacrifice, God was tired of the people going through the motions, God would have rather enjoyed His people not sinning.
