Well that wasn't my intention. In truth the fallacy I am attempting to describe doesn't even apply to only Muslims. Just they use it most commonly. You could also apply it to people attempting to defend any number of groups such as fundamentalist Christianity or the kkk (don't read that as Muslims are like the kkk, many aren't)
Basically the fallacy is attempting to cover the actions of a given group under the silent majority, in cases where the silent majority is irrelevant.
