My father tried to drown me as an infant because I splashed him while he was bathing me in the tub. Fun stories from my childhood . And my mother's still married to him. Probably one of the many reasons the flood story failed to come across as "just".
I remember reading something about God's great "mercy", allowing Noah to live, brushing off the fact that he he murdered billions of other forms of life. "Oh, but they were his to destroy!" Ugh.
