It's far more likely (and more evinced) that sexual deprivation leads to problems from psychological breakdowns to desperation amongst those deprived. As a priest it's not like these men can fulfil their urges in a normal sense as any one of the community members who catches wind of it will likely mean trouble.
The catholic church is more likely to kick out a priest with a girlfriend than one who fucks children. I bet almost none of these men were paedophiles until after a significant time in the clergy.
